I bought one from a scrap yard for $50 in 1990 Now, probably around $500 if it is a good rebuildable engine. Does it have D0VE heads on it?
Most of the older motors used a 30 to 1 mixture. However you can safely use 50 to1 today on that motor because the quality of 2 cycle oil has improved significantly since 1970. Make sure the oil has a "TCW 3" rating.
Casting # is stamped on the driver side of the block!!! In addition, on 1968 and later engines the numbers stamped on the lower rail of the engines right (passenger) side match the last 8 digits of the cars vehicle identification number. 2899830 383 ...
